Fatḥ ar-Raḥmān, was authored by the late Harari scholar, saint, and reformer Shaykh Hāshim ibn ᶜAbd al-ᶜAzīz . The ToM Project has chosen to re-publish this book as it is highly revered and deemed significant by the ancestors of Harar.
The original text was written in 1071 AH (approximately 380 years ago) and is a compilation of 'ṣalawāt' - formulas sending peace and blessings upon the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ.
The original text consists of 5 chapters, which were traditionally recited by elders in Harar as part of their daily litanies completing the book in it's entirety on a weekly basis. This was done so in hopes of invoking Allāh's mercy and blessings, not only upon the reciters but their families, neighbours and greater community.
By re-publishing this text, we hope that our generation take part in reviving the tradition of it's recitation, in turn preserving it for future generations.
